Stuff Going On Around Here!

Hello Folks!
We hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend and taking the time to honor those who have served this country, as well as loved ones.
We have some wonderful things lined up “on The Farm”–here’s a sneak peek:
ON SUNDAY JUNE 6th! Writer, farmer, and all around Good Guy Michael Perry joins us to talk [...]

An Unlikely Pairing

To me summer means strawberries!  Strawberries come in season where I live around the beginning of May.  I love to make Strawberry Freezer Jam, Strawberry Pancake Topping, Strawberry Shortcake and even homemade Strawberry Ice Cream.

Basil is also coming in to season.  I LOVE basil.  It is my favorite herb and I long for fresh Caprese [...]

Now it really feels like a zoo at our house.

I was all set to write about something else, but the craziest thing happened yesterday morning.  When I looked out my kitchen window, I saw this guy.

Please understand that I’ve been obsessed with peacocks since we painted my daughter’s nursery a pale aqua blue last weekend. I’ve been all over Etsy, looking at peacock art, [...]

On Vacation

My post is a little late this week as I am vacationing in Philadelphia.  City life cramps my style a bit, but it offers plenty of fodder for a Renegade Farmer post!  The first thing we did upon arrival was head to the Reading Terminal Market.  This market is open 7 days a week and [...]

If you are sitting inside surfing the net on this gorgeous day, shame on you! Aw, I’m just kidding. [...]

Eyebright for Bright Eyes

I’ve been spending way too much time sitting in front of a computer screen this week and my eyes are telling the tale all too well.  It is time for me to brew up a batch of Eyebright infusion to give my eyes some rest and refreshment.  This is as simple as brewing a cup [...]

Grameen Bank, what a concept.

Do you know about the Grameen Bank?  It will blow your mind. The Grameen Bank, and its founder, Professor Muhammad Yunus, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.  The bank started out in Bangladesh in 1976, with literally, the money in his pockets.
Professor Yunus met a woman in the village of Jobra who made bamboo [...]

Why Did The Birdie Cross The Road?

To get me to the other side!  Many birds use a special tactic to lure danger away from their young.  The Kildeer is no different.  She pretends to have a broken wing and shakes around.  Once you follow her, she heads away from her eggs with you in trail.  When she has enough distance between [...]
